Special texture additive for powder coatings

Jietonda® SA208 is an organic-metallic compound, which can be applicable to powder coatings to impart special texture finishes such as wrinkle, reticulated, vein, embossed and grained appearance (“frosted glass”).

1. Typical properties

Herein described to be typical properties and do not constitute specification limits.

2. Characteristics
　 ● Jietonda® SA208 can be used in epoxy or epoxy/polyester hybrid system, to impart special texture finishes such as wrinkle, reticulated, vein, embossed and grained appearance (“frosted glass”).

3. Use method & levels
　 ● SA208 can be used by means of extrusion at use level of 3.5~ 5% based on weight of resin, and can be used by “dry blend” way (post addition) at use level of 1~ 2% based on total weight of formulation, too.
　 ● If dry mixing way is adopted, it is very important to mixing uniformity to gain stable patterns. The texture effects with coarse grained, sparse density or disappear pattern can be obtained at less added amounts and through dry mixing at lower shear forces for the powder coating system with same properties. Conversely, with fine and small, more dense and clear appearance.
　 ● The usage levels of both SA208 and filler loading affect texture patterns of coating. Furthermore, the chemical properties of resin and binder are important, too. These are generally determined by your thorough experiments. It represents wrinkle finish at recommended use amounts such as 3.5-5% based on weight of resin for both epoxy and epoxy/polyester, but the style is slightly unlikeness, the former is more uniformity.
　 ● The final patterns are greatly affected by baking conditions. The proper conditions adopted should be selected by your experiments such as fast or slow rate baking at different temperatures.

4. Package & Storage
　 ● Packaging with PE lined Kraft paper bags. Net weight 20kg per bag.
　 ● Store in cool and dry place. Avoid contacting with strong acids, bases and other organic chemicals together. Keep away from heat and fire.
　 ● Based on our experience the shelf life of SA208 under above conditions is at least 2 years.

5. Warning
　 ● Dangerous! Be careful in handling SA208! Good protective and ventilating conditions are required.
　 ● Avoid inhaling its powder or dust directly because this is harmful to yours health.
　 ● If inhaling a lot of SA208 powders or dusts or breathing air containing them in a long time, this can cause you health damage such as respiratory irritation or a like “catch cold” case and even cause nose bleeding. If powders or dust contaminated eyes accidentally, you must flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, then get immediate medical attention.
